Instructions for adding a PWA web app to iOS
To add a Progressive Web App (PWA) to your iOS home screen, follow these steps. Note that PWAs on iOS must typically be added through Safari for full functionality, though some third-party browsers like Chrome may also support this in recent versions.
- Open the Safari app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Navigate to the website of the PWA you want to add.
- Tap the Share button (it looks like a square with an arrow pointing up, usually at the bottom of the screen; swipe up if you don’t see it).
- In the Share menu, scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Review or edit the suggested name for the app icon, and if available (in newer iOS versions), ensure the toggle for “Open as a web app” is enabled if you want PWA-specific behavior.
- Tap Add in the top-right corner.
The PWA icon will now appear on your home screen, and it can be launched like a native app. It may also appear in Spotlight search, Siri Suggestions, and the App Library.
